I’ve always believed love is the most volatile substance in the universe. It erupts, it incinerates, and then it simply flames out.
ABOUT THE BOOK: Nemesis is a Diabolic. Created to protect a galactic Senator’s daughter, Sidonia. The girl who has grown up by her side and who is as much as sister as a master. There’s no one Nemesis wouldn’t kill to keep her safe. But when the power-mad Emperor summons Sidonia to the galactic court as a hostage, there is only one way for Nemesis to protect Sidonia.
She must become her.
Now one of the galaxy’s most dangerous weapons is masquerading in a world of corruption and Nemesis has to hide her true abilities or risk everything. As the Empire begins to fracture and rebellion looms closer, Nemesis learns that there is something stronger than her deadly force: the one thing she’s been told she doesn’t have – humanity. And, amidst all the danger, action and intrigue, her humanity might be the only thing that can save her, Sidonia and the entire Empire…
MY REVIEW: I was kind of reluctant while starting this book, but you know, opinions change!
This was an amazing book. I loved the writing although the plot was a bit predictable.
So, this book is set in a technologically advanced universe. There are normal people, and then, there are Diabolics. Diabolics are ‘made’ to protect their masters. They aren’t supposed to have any human emotions and they need to be devoted only to their master, with whom they are bonded to.
Written from the POV of Nemesis, the book accomplished in capturing everyone’s attention with it’s beautiful descriptive writing. Nemesis is a diabolic, bonded to Sidonia. Although Sidonia believes that Nemesis is capable of having human emotions and treats her just like a friend, Nemesis is stuck on the belief that all Diabolics like her are inhuman and can never have emotions.
The story starts to develop when Sidonia is called to the royal court. Her parents take it as a threat to her life and send Nemesis instead, to be Sidonia. Nemesis, being a completely loyal diabolic she is, is ready to do anything to save Sidonia’s life.
But as she enters the royal court, everything changes. She seems to start having small slivers of humanity, which she seems to hate so much. Whether it is having feelings for a little animal, or about trusting somebody as a friend or, even worse, falling for someone.
She continues to deny her love for Tyrus, the Empire’s nephew who is supposedly “mentally challenged”.
This book gains force in the second half when we realise where the plot is actually heading to. It becomes a page turner then!
This book is amazing for the readers who like sci-fi and for those who don’t, they can surely read this book to change their opinion… It definitely changed mine.
I’ll give it 4/5 stars.
