I cannot let the broken girl inside of me inhale all that I’ve become. I will not shatter, not again, in the wake of an emotional earthquake.
ABOUT THE BOOK: Juliette Ferrars thought she’d won. She took over Sector 45, was named the new Supreme Commander, and now has Warner by her side. But she’s still the girl with the ability to kill with a single touch—and now she’s got the whole world in the palm of her hand. When tragedy hits, who will she become? Will she be able to control the power she wields and use it for good?
MY REVIEW: *gasps*
So I expected this book to be not as good as the previous ones, cause you know after 3 years, your expectations rise skyhigh. But it turned out actually pretty good.
The book starts some days after Juliette killed Paris Anderson and became the new Supreme Commander. This book is pretty much about how Juliette is learning to deal with such drastic changes in her life. As you read, you find out that Juliette unravels many secrets about herself (which puts the readers in trauma). Juliette, who is broken because of her past, is learning to heal again, but circumstances aren’t the best. She gets hurt by people she loves, she finds ground shaking rules about herself.
Like in the previous three books, Tahereh Mafi portrayed Juliette as somebody who is healing and learning to be strong. By the end of Ignite Me, we expected Juliette to have healed and turn into a new strong invincible person, but the fact that she is just the same person we got to know while reading the first book (aka Shatter Me) and that she hasn’t been fully healed was something I really appreciated. She has travelled a long distance from there and is still learning.
On the other hand, Warner’s role seemed a little hushed even though the book had chapters from his POV. The fact that Warner is very secretive was highlighted and that caused a lot of trouble in his relationship with Juliette, even though he never really meant to hurt her.
Kenji. I HAD A LOT OF EXPECTATIONS. This whole one-sided love thing that was going on really really disappointed me. Kenji is somebody who is so chill and calm. And enter, Nazeera and personality change. And I was so irritated because Kenji is literally nothing like that.
This whole story had an amazing plot but I do feel it could have been much better. There were so many unexpected things in the book which I actually liked. So many things we didn’t know about the main characters. However, some things could have been better. But I am glad that to say that I cannot wait to read the next book!
